How does DSL work?

DSL works on the same principle as your telephone.  Data is sent over your phone line (even when you're using it to talk) at a very high frequency that you couldn't possibly hear.  It's on that frequency where the data for internet is put and then retrieved later by the internet equipment that needs it.  This is how you can use the internet and the phone at the same time, unlike dialup.
